Maybe it’s because I’m not really involved in the industry much, but seeing Nike attached to surfing culture still feels strange to me. Nike was always for basketballers or other jock-types who wore shin high black socks and absurdly expensive sneakers. Sure, it is strange to see outside big businesses come into the realm of surfing, but at least they are forking over the funding and energy to produce what seems to be a quality, cutting-edge women’s surf film. The same can’t be said for many (any?) other core surf companies.
